The APM Registered Project Professional

RPPThe APM Registered Project Professional (RPP) is a pan-sector standard for those able to demonstrate the competence in responsible leadership, who have the ability to manage a complex project and use appropriate tools, processes and techniques.

20|20 was pleased to work recently with the ECITB and APM to deliver the highly regarded RPP standard to the offshore sector. Following a six-month programme launched last year by the ECITB and Offshore Project Management Steering Group (OPMSG), 16 successful candidates from companies including Subsea7, Wood Group, Petrofac, Aker Solutions, Apache and Maersk have been awarded the APM Registered project Professional (RPP) designation. APM Registered Project professional is available to anyone with experience of managing others in a complex project environment regardless of their professional background or qualification. There are no membership or academic / qualification prerequisites. Anyone who can provide the appropriate evidence can apply.

There is a growing recognition of the value that competent and capable project professionals can offer to society – both public and private sector. RPP sets project professionals apart through a robust assessment of the APM Five Dimensions of professionalism. Successful candidates will be entered onto the APM Register of Project Professionals.  The register demonstrates to users of project management services and the wider public those professionals who have met the standard for RPP.

Professional status allowing you to stand out from the crowd – if and when the APM is granted chartered status,   those already awarded the RPP standard will be given the designation of the Chartered Project Professional and allowed to use the post nominal letters of ChPP.

How is it assessed?

The assessment for the Registered Project Professional has two parts:

  1. A portfolio of evidence – to demonstrate competence across 29 core and 18 complementary project management competences, which is to be accompanied by your CPD log.
  2. A professional review- an interview with two peer APM Registered Project Professional assessors.
