What is the APM PMQ (formerly the APMP)?

APM Project Management Qualification (APM PMQ) – formerly known as the APMP – is a knowledge based qualification that allows candidates to demonstrate knowledge of all elements of project management. Candidates will be able to demonstrate an understanding of how these elements interact and how their project fits into their strategic and commercial environment. This fully accredited course is aligned to the Association for Project Management’s (APM’s) Project Management Professional (IPMA level D) syllabus and exam. The APMP course is designed to provide a broad level of project management knowledge, giving existing or aspiring project management professionals all the information they need to have confidence in approaching the management of projects large or small. The content discusses the terminology, tools and techniques and extends to provide a deeper perspective, facilitating an understanding of the reasons for their use as well as the benefits of doing so.

APM PMQ is IPMA Level D and SCQF Level 7.

APM PMQ (formerly known as APMP) qualification is recognised nationally and internationally and provides a solid understanding of the current best practice methodology. Through the use of an appropriate case study during the course, delegates will be able to apply what they learn, making use of the theory in a practical sense which allows for more effective learning and greater likelihood of implementation and improvement in the workplace.

Blended Learning

The Blended Learning option combines online self-study with a two-day exam preparation and exam workshop. Essentially, the four day training course from the traditional classroom offering is replaced with access to our cutting-edge online learning system. This package is suitable for those who are under greater time pressure, greater budget pressure (it is £1,325 + VAT) or those who prefer online learning. You can read more about our APMP Blended Learning here.

APM PMQ (formerly known as the APMP) open schedule training courses:

This course is structured as a four day course, followed by a 2 day exam preparation and exam workshop afterwards. This is to enable the learning from the course to sink in and for the delegate to learn exam tips and to go over past exam questions. Pass rates are much improved using this format compared with the more traditional, intense five-day course.

APMP exam workshop
Who is it for?

APM PMQ (formerly known as the APMP) is aimed at those wishing to achieve a broad level of project management knowledge sufficient to participate in projects from individual assignments through to large capital projects. Applicants typically have some pre-existing project management knowledge, although this is not essential. This course is designed for project managers, project team members, other managers and all those who would benefit from exposure to best practice in project management within any industry.

  • Existing project managers keen to experience best practice as defined by the APM.
  • New project managers looking to add new weapons to their project management armoury.
  • Project team members who wish to better understand the responsibilities and activities involved in project management.
  • Project team members who wish to progress into a career as a project manager.

What are the benefits?

APM PMQ (formerly known as the APMP) is the flagship qualification of the Association for Project Management. Tens of thousands of project managers have chosen to obtain the internationally recognised International Project Management Association Level D certification.

It is proven that organisations can achieve competitive advantage and improved project delivery through a highly skilled and qualified project management community. Project Managers who have gained the APMP qualification (now called APM PMQ) have an increased confidence in their project management ability. Being more sure of best-practice processes and protocols means much more efficient running of your projects. Increased confidence and progression can often bring greater pride and clarity in the running of projects. It is often identified that the key part of a Project Manager’s role is communication. Being more confident in ability directly leads to better and more effective communication.
