Meet the Team - Alison Lawman - Senior Lecturer at York St John's University

20/20 Project Management have partnered with York St John's University to bring you a new Masters in Project Management.

Today we meet, Alison Lawman a Senior Lecturer in Project Management within York St John's Business School.

Hi Alison! Can you give us a introduction to yourself & your role at York St John's university.

I joined York Business School in early 2019 as Senior Lecturer in Project Management following 11 years at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, lecturing at undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA levels.  Prior to moving into academia, I worked extensively within the Financial Services sector, involved in, and responsible for, a number of projects.

At York St John University, as well as being Module Director for our Executive MBA Capstone Project, and Course Leader for our Graduate Certificate in Project Management, I am leading our collaboration with 2020 Project Management in the design and development of our new MSc Project Management. Working alongside Graham and his team, we are busy creating this new programme which will launch in January 2020 aimed at project practitioners.

Prior to moving into academia, I worked extensively within the Financial Services sector, involved in and responsible for a number of projects.

Currently completing my PhD in the professionalisation of project management, I also have an MSc Project Management (Distinction) and APMP.

What do you love most about the new MSc in Project Management?

What I love about our new MSc is that it blends academic theory and best practice with practitioner insights from a range of sectors ensuring its relevance in today’s challenging project environments.

What would you be doing if you weren't a lecturer?

If I wasn’t a lecturer I would be running an olive grove and vineyard in Provence!
