David Coombes is 20/20's lead ChPP consultant and has supported many of our candidates successfully through their RPP programme. Today we find out a little more about David, learning about his experience, what he loves most about his job and how he believes 20/20's support packages can help you.
What is your job title?
20/20 Consultant Facilitator
What are your main responsibilities?
Delivery and facilitation of ChPP and RPP Support Programme.
What are your qualifications & experience?
I was awarded RPP in 2011 and recently submitted my application for ChPP.
I also have the following certifications: APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner; Change Management Practitioner and am a Registered Corporate Coach with the WABC.
After 24 years in the Royal Air Force I started my project management career with Bupa Health & Wellbeing in 2001 and undertook various project roles including PMO Manager and Change Practice Manager.
I decided to set up my own company in 2013 and won a contract to support QinetiQ (Aerospace & Defence) where I spent 3 years providing interim project management for MOD aircraft projects.
I joined 20/20 in April 2017, initially to deliver RPP programmes alongside one of their Senior Facilitators and have recently became the Lead Facilitator for the ChPP Support Programmes. Working for 20/20 takes up most of my time, however, when there are gaps in my schedule I undertake consultancy for a training provider in the financial services sector, where I was recently asked to coach project management apprentices for a Scandinavian bank.
What do you enjoy about facilitating & assessing the ChPP process?
I enjoy meeting people and being able to share my knowledge, especially as I am able to use my coaching skills to help people achieve a key milestone in their self-development.
What do you think is most beneficial about the 20/20 ChPP & RPP support packages?
Having an experienced 20/20 coach/mentor to guide candidates through the ChPP or RPP application process saves time, effort and helps people focus on the aspects that are really key to a successful outcome.
The gathering and writing of evidence to support any form of formal application is not easy, especially when you are a busy project management professional. The 20/20 support programmes provide a clear pathway with milestones to achieve along the way and the benefit of an experienced ChPP & RPP coach/mentor to turn to when required.
What do you enjoy most about working with 20/20?
The freedom to get on with my role and to deliver something that has tangible results. The people are great and I have been made to feel welcome from day one!
