What is the Introduction to Project Management?
Developed by 20/20, this Introduction to Project Management course is aligned to the PMI key processes and to the PMI’s Body of Knowledge (PMBoK)®. It is designed to give you a clear induction into terminology and key processes that you will encounter when involved in a project.
Who is it for?
This course is designed for those new to working in projects, or non project staff who desire an appreciation of the project environment and project management terminology. It is especially relevant if you are in a company that has aligned its processes and procedures with the PMI as opposed to the APM.
What are the benefits?
The Project Management Institute is the U.S standard for project management. Their qualifications are also globally recognised. The terminology and methodology used is different in part to the APM but both demonstrate best practice. The PMI is the predominant standard outside of the UK and Western Europe and is quite strong in the Oil and Gas sector outside of the UK. The benefits of this course are similar to those of the APM Introductory Certificate in that having all staff that are involved in the project environment fully conversant in the terminology and the process of a project results in far greater efficiency. This is especially true when it comes to information flow, as a more confident project team member will communicate much more effectively than one not sure of terminology, process or relevance.
As with all appropriate training of your staff, making them feel more valued, more involved, and more able to progess their career will clearly result in a higher retention of team members and often a higher contribution from them.
