Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) Support Package

Overview

The Chartered Project Professional Standard is a professional benchmark that demonstrates attainment of a defined level of technical knowledge, professional practice and ethical behaviour and forms the basis of the assessment that applicants must pass to gain Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) status.

Becoming a Chartered Project Professional has many advantages, including:

  • Increased understanding, helping you work more efficiently

There are 3 available routes to take for ChPP:

/ Route 1
For those with a recognised assessment for technical knowledge i.e. PQ or PPQ:

  • Provide evidence of professional practice through 1 to 4 x 500 word Project Overviews
  • 12 x 250 word Statements for 10 mandatory & 2 elective competencies
  • 1 hour interview including ethics questions
  • CPD log (covering 12 months prior to submission)

/ Route 2
For those with a recognised assessment for technical knowledge & professional practice:

  • Recognised assessment i.e. Registered Project Professional
  • 30 minute telephone interview
  • CPD log (covering 12 months prior to submission)

/ Route 3
Experiential route for those without a recognised assessment for technical knowledge, but who do meet the eligibility criteria:

  • Provide evidence of professional practice through 1 to 4 x 500 word Project Overviews
  • 12 x 250 word Statements for 10 mandatory & 2 elective competencies
  • 2 hour interview including ethics questions
  • CPD log (covering 12 months prior to submission)

  • Practice interview including example technical questioning & feedback
  • Practice answers to ethical questions
  • Discuss 5 minute supporting statement

* For Routes 1 & 3, a 20/20 Coach is available online throughout the programme to review and provide continual feedback on your Project Overviews and Competency Statements as you prepare them.

Prerequisites

You are professionally active with a proven track record of delivering complex projects – the characteristics of complexity are listed in the APM ChPP Application Guidance document.

You have advanced technical knowledge and can evaluate and analyse theory of current practices.

You can demonstrate the assessment criteria of the required competencies set out in the APM Application Guidance document and have a breadth of project experience.
