Which PMI Qualification Should I Take?

Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)

If you’d like to manage larger projects and gain more responsibility or add project management skills into your current role, then the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) is right for you.

Unless you can demonstrate 1500 hours of project experience and a degree, you can meet the pre-requisite by undertaking 23 hours of project management education.  Our on-line PMI course meets this requirement, or we can deliver a classroom course ‘in house’.  Once you have been issued with the completion certificate we can arrange an on-line exam slot at a time of your choice.  The certification exam has 150 multiple choice questions, and you have three hours to complete it.

Project Management Professional (PMP)

The PMP is the benchmark qualification for gaining all the necessary knowledge and experience you need to manage a project directly, or work in a project team.  The course provides a breadth of knowledge in all areas of project management and covers knowledge areas and process groups from the PMI Body of Knowledge (Version 6). To undertake this course, you should be an experienced project manager who: performs their duties under general supervision and are responsible for all aspects of the project for the life of the project; leads and directs cross-functional teams to deliver projects within the constraints of schedule, budget and resources and; demonstrates sufficient knowledge and experience to appropriately apply a methodology to projects that have reasonably well-defined project requirements and deliverables.

To sit your PMP exam you need to demonstrate 7500 hours of experience leading and directing projects and a have degree or have 4500 hours of experience and undertake 35 hours of project management education.  Our on-line PMI course meets this requirement, or we can deliver a classroom course ‘in house’. Once you have been issued with the completion certificate, we can arrange an on-line exam slot at a time of your choice.

The PMP certification exam has 200 multiple-choice questions, and you have four hours to complete it.  To maintain your PMP, you must earn 60 professional development units (PDUs) every three years (on-line packages to maintain your PDUs are also available)

Bespoke Training

For in-house groups 20/20 can provide bespoke courses that embeds your organisation’s own processes, terminology or project management tools.

Competency Assessment

Many organisations find it useful to first undertake a competency assessment project for their project teams.  This helps to pin point individual, team and organisational strengths and weaknesses.  The resulting reports can include recommended personal development plans (for additional knowledge and experience) and allow 20/20 to create a cost-effective overall training programme for your organisation.
